I believe that--even during our greatest struggles--each person has strengths and solutions within them. I seek to help my clients harness hope and their inherent ability to heal, grow, and learn so that they can move toward creating lives characterized by meaning, connection, and well-being. I offer holistic counseling and consulting services addressing the needs of individuals and families coping with stress, depression, anxiety, loss, grief, trauma, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and other life challenges. One of my specialties is working with individuals and families coping with challenges in their reproductive and parenting years, such as perinatal stress, depression, and anxiety; infertility; adoption; recovering from traumatic childbirth; parenting children with special needs; parent-infant attachment; parenting; pregnancy loss and infant death; breastfeeding/chestfeeding loss, grief, guilt, anxiety, aversion, and trauma; non-gestational breastfeeding/chestfeeding and parenting; LGBTQ pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding/chestfeeding, and parenting; and dysphoric milk ejection reflex (D-MER). My work with transgender and gender queer individuals is guided by the ICATH model or the WPATH model, depending on what approach my clients find most useful. Social justice is an inherent part of all my work, including counseling, consulting, writing, researching, speaking, and advocating. I regularly engage in continuing education with the goal of increasing my understanding and competence related to trans* issues, gender identity and expression, and gender nonconformity.
As a Clinical Counselor and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, I provide breastfeeding/chestfeeding-friendly mental health care and have a strong interest in lactational psychology. As a cross-cultural counselor and researcher, I value working with individuals whose worldview and life experiences are similar to and different from my own.
