offices in South Seattle and Lake City
I have been involved in transgender liberation and racial justice work for over 15 years including serving on various boards including the City of Seattle LGBT Commission 2013-15, Zenyu Healing, Trikone Northwest, and the National LGBT Access Project. Prior to coming to Seattle from Philadelphia my work included sexual health education at the Attic Youth Center where I co-led “Young, Trans, & Unified” and was a founding staff member of the Trans-health Information Project.
My approach to counseling is informed by a combination of psychodynamic therapy, somatics, and an overall non-judgmental approach that recognizes the many complexities of people’s lives. During our initial session we will discuss the concerns that have prompted you to seek help. I may employ a variety of approaches tailored to fit individual style and needs. These may include active listening, mindfulness practices, somatic approaches, family of origin work, and creativity.
My educational training includes graduate degrees in social work and in law and social policy from Bryn Mawr College Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research and an undergraduate degree focusing in social sciences from Barnard College, Columbia University. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in WA State.
My therapeutic work is influenced by my engagement in diverse communities, in particular, with people of color, immigrants, and lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer and transgender people.
