Jennifer Creson Counseling
1820 12th Ave Suite 201
I have focused both my education and my practical experience on working with trans* clients and their loved ones. Because no two clients are alike, I approach each individual from an integrated model of counseling, drawing on a number of theories, which I believe inform how people view themselves and how they fit, or do not fit, in the world. I also work from a Social Justice perspective. I recognize that oppressions, both internalized and societal, keep people small and quiet. I work with clients to stop judging themselves by society’s standards, and start seeing their innate strengths. I am interested in knowing and working with the entirety of my clients' identities and experiences and helping my clients to better understand these parts of themselves.I hope to help clients gain more self-worth in the face of previous relationships, families, and systems that told them that they aren’t good enough.
I do write letters of support for hormone therapy and surgeries. I believe in using an Informed Consent (ICATH) model and working with clients at a pace that makes sense for them. I am familiar with various standards of care including WPATH and ICATH, and have experience collaborating with clients in navigating these models within health, mental health, and other systems.
