The Therapists and Physicians Consult Group at Ingersoll Gender Center meets every other month and is a chance for medical and mental health providers who work with trans, gender queer and gender variant clients and their families to network, consult, share resources and learn from one another. Discussion topics include best practices in supporting medical and social gender affirmation for youth and adults, decreasing barriers to healthcare access, and partner, family and community issues. There is an associated listserv where discussion continues electronically between face to face meetings. The group is open to graduate students as well as licensed mental health professionals, and a basic understanding of and some experience working with trans* clients is expected.
One hour before the main Ingersoll consult group, there is a break-off group for medical providers in the adjacent Gay City conference room. Medical providers can meet to discuss specific clinical questions regarding the care of trans* patients and hormone management. All medical providers, students, or residents with an interest in trans* medical care are welcome.
Face to face meetings are every other month (Jan Mar May July Sept Nov) on the third Tuesday of the month. There will also be an announcement on the listserv one week before each meeting. To be added to the listserv on Google, please apply for membership (please note you must be signed into google to do this). Be sure to select "Apply for membership" when you are redirected to the page.
